Ambiguity regarding local body elections to be held in Karachi on October 23 continues.

Sources say that the federal government is considering the request to postpone the elections in Karachi.

NA 237 Malir and NA 239 Korangi constituencies of the National Assembly are polling on October 16, while local body elections in Karachi will be held on October 23.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also requested to postpone the by-elections for 3 months and the Sindh government has indicated a lack of police force and funds for the elections due to floods.

At the request of the Ministry of Interior, more than 1,000 policemen and officers of the Sindh Police are posted in Islamabad.

Sources of Sindh Police say that preparations are being made to send more personnel to Islamabad at the request of the Interior Ministry

Sources say that in the current situation, there is still uncertainty regarding the holding of local body elections to be held on October 23 in Karachi.
